According to recent news on eWeek.Com, Google's going to release the combined byproduct of their past few years extensive research and development efforts on the AJAX Framework at the Sun JavaOne conference at San Francisco.

The kit, titled as Google Web Toolkit or GWT is going to provide an exhaustive framework for Java-AJAX developers and is going really simplify development of applications similar to Google Maps or Gmail ever for the non-experts.

QUOTE(eWeek.Com)

The GWT (Google Web Toolkit) is a Java software development framework that simplifies writing AJAX applications such as Google Maps and Gmail for developers who are not steeped in JavaScript or the nuances of all the different browsers, the company said.

"Google Web Toolkit combines our years of experience creating AJAX applications like Gmail, Google Maps and Google Calendar, with a number of smart development tools to solve many of the problems typically associated with writing AJAX code," said a Google statement describing the technology.

The toolkit includes a Java-to-JavaScript compiler, built-in PRC (remote procedure call) support, and Java debugging support, the company said.

Yup, got this on slashdot today. This is really cool. I know that some toolkits and libraries for AJAX already exist, but I don't think they're as good as gmail's. It's nice of google to do this, especially since they've spent money on it.
