Different operating systems. Different styles. But what if the quirks and styles of the different

long-standing, much-circulated, amusing story. http://www.zyra.org.uk/os-air.htm ...

Continous Ink Systems
- Here is a nice way to get your printer a nice unlimited blast! (0)
In our internet cafes here nowadays, they have printing services like no other, a single copy using
a photopaper would only cost you less that 25cent US, this is all because of cheaper inks and better
ink systems. Before I was still skeptical since I have a printing business with 5 inkjet printer
varying from HPs and Epsons and 2 HP Laser printers and a humble dot matrix printer for
mimeographing jobs. I tried to look for better alternative since much of the CIS systems here are
sold at higher price. I stumbled upon a Chinese site that they claimed they are a factory th...
How Do I Virtual Pc +web Server + Cms
- Setting up a virtual server for Content Management Systems (5)
Does anyone have any experience with MS Windows Virtual PC. I need help with setting up my os for an
optimal sandbox configuration. What I would like to do once Virtual PC is setup, is to experiment by
learning how to work with Content Management Systems on Windows XP and/or Vista. I've
downloaded several different distributions like Drupal, Joomla, Sugar CRM, Zope, Plone, and some
others. But I guess they need other technologies like apache, python, java, mysql, php, and others.
I don't have an extra pc or resources to spare for setting up or turning my pc into...
Pc Systems, What You Use And How It Effects Your System
- (9)
I for a long time didn't really know what made a system, while something show a significant
improvment. Such as upgrading a video card, I really wanted to know how to make a system at utmost
the fastest for the cheapest or fastest if I came into alot of money. Processing Power: This is
important of course, having low processing power can really hinder your system. Processing power
counts in Compiling, Rendering, Editing Videos, games sometimes. As it stands as of this date a
intel 4 3.0 478 pin CPU is absolutly fine and I find it a bit greedy. I had, had a 2.4 int...

For those of you who configured Internet Explorer to block certain settings/sites using Group Policy
Editor/Windows SteadyState, Firefox can still access the Internet, overriding all you configured
proxies if you have just blocked it in the browser. Here is something that will change all of that!
We all know that Firefox, Opera or other alternative browsers should be used instead of Internet
Explorer. For security, speed, usability, and many more reasons. But people in large networks (e.g.
school boards) are reluctant to installing Firefox because they are scared that k...
If Business Meetings Were Like Internet Comment Systems
- (0)
What happens if participants in a business meeting behave like Internet commenters? It's funny
because it's so true. 90% of the comments people make in forums etc. would not be made in real
life, where other people could (in theory at least) actually retaliate physically or at least
identify the person making the comment. Warning: crude language.

Well I was just wondering if anybody has taken this test....and what your thoughts were of the test
I have taken it and passed, without too much trouble, however I felt that the test itself was not
that great of a test. Sure it asks you lots of questions about things, but how is that pratical? Is
it all that important to know what the names of certain things are (as to if they are Microsoft ,
or Windows where it chances between the two depending on what version of windows you are in) or
some of the other little things. I was thinking that it would be more practicle ...
NetOp Systems Fead Optimizer: Mind-blowing Compression
- (7)
Netopsystems FEAD Optimizer uses a high compression technology (FEAD). What's so special about
this technique is that it can compress already compressed files by 20%-40%. Adobe Reader was one of
the first to incorporate FEAD Optimizer. At first look the decompression termed as
'recomposition' by Netopsystems, looks intriguing, being heavy on the CPU and taking quite a
lot of time and the absence of cancel button to stop the decompression (Oops! Recomposition) is
further displeasing. But, the compression ratio of FEAD is more than enough to overcome these dra...

I'll be setting up an IT lab here with about 30 computers for our school. IT lab may be a bit
misleading, it's more for children and young people who will use the computer for basic tasks
like Office, edutainment, games, and maybe some light graphics work. Think small projects in
photoshop. So i have several options, and i'm trying to strike a balance between economy and at
the same time getting something that won't be totally obsolete in a couple years. Also i would
like it to be upgradeable in the event that in the future, say a 3d graphics program star...

Content Management Systems
- An Overview (0)
QUOTE Synopsis This is an article to understand the basics of Content Management System (CMS).
It would briefly look into the origins and advent of CMS. It would also look into few of the
variations and the technology involved in the design of CMS. This article would be focusing on the
CMS from the perspective as a website, but it must be noted that similar technology and design
principles go into a CMS for a in-house or intranet based CMS for any organization. Introduction
Content Management System (CMS) is just that - what the words mean. If an attempt has to ...

system creates the web site for you. There is an out-of-the-box look to it, but it can be totally
customized. Web site: http://plone.org/ Something to look into if you need a quick cms!

What Do You Want?

Currently this year there has been much talk about an Xbox 360, PS3, and Revolution. These are all
good but what is the best one? Personaly i would like to have the Revolution because all the
nintendo games, but that also means not a lot of newer games for it. Xbox 360 look really cool, but
costing $300 and $400 is just way to much. And the one you really want is the $400 version because
of the wireless controllers the hard drive and all of that stuff. I haven't really heard
anything about PS3. If anyone has any information about please post it here 'cause i am d...
Microsoft Forces The Use Of Directx With Vista
- Operating Systems : Windows (3)
Once again Microsoft screws over lots of people and tries to force their standards rather than
accepting what everyone else wants. It really, really annoys me that they get away with things like
this. I can see a lot of people who use Linux possibly moving back to Windows if Microsoft was more
open, and didn't try to use only their APIs. They are abusing their position. If developers want
to use OpenGL, then let them. Don't for many of them to learn DirectX. This is going to KILL the
performance of lots of games that use OpenGL. I really hope that some of the big...

The Good Ol' Days
- Discussions about systems long gone (10)
Ah- my first machine, a Texas Intruments TI-99/4A. Though my friend had had a Commodore 64 for the
longest time, computers remained a total mystery until I got one of my own. Well- OK- even when I
finally *did* get my own, they were still a mystery. They were a mystery to me while I took apart my
Colecovision ADAM, a mystery while I did research papers on my Tandy 1000, and only starting making
sense on my friend's old 286... Remember any of these? Spark any memories? Care to share your
first PC story? What was it? What were the specs? What software (if any) came wi...
Porting Mods For Php-nuke/bbs Systems
- What is a Ported Mod (0)
Basically a ported mod is a modification that was written for a specific message board or somethinfg
of that sort. In My World I port mods that are originally intended to work with the phpbb or
phpbb2 message boards and make them compatible with the PHP-Nuke CMS (Content Management System)
One of my greatest mods which I believe I could also port to this system which is an Invision or
(IPB) Invision Power Board(Trial) v2.0.0 PF 3 © 2005 IPS, Inc. as stated in the footer of this
board. I have now decided to port some mod for that board also because the "Plain Ja...
Sugestion About Operating Systems...
- (5)
Hi... what do you think about dividing operating systems into subcategories (be operating system)?

make it easier to read... ( OS is my fovorite part of astahost... /smile.gif"

there can be "distro wars" (without post count) that are started so many times... one place to lead

Moving Content Mangement Systems

Hey All, I have been wondering if there is a convenient way to move the entire contents of a blog

rebuiling everything from scratch. Any ideas? I suppose this would also include moving databases.

Linux is highly compatible

It lets you directly mount filesystems for all versions of MS-DOS and MS Windows, SVR4, OS/2, Mac
OS, Solaris, SunOS, NeXTSTEP, many BSD variants, and so on. Linux is also able to operate with many
network layers like Ethernet, Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI), High Performance Parallel
Interface (HIPPI), IBM's Token Ring, AT&T WaveLAN, DEC RoamAbout DS, and so forth. By using
suitable libraries, Linux systems are even able to directly run programs written for other operating
systems. For example, Linux is able to execute applications written for MSDOS, MS Win...
