Are you talking about Unix or about Linux ?
Because an apache server is usually built-in in every standard Linux distros. And, of course, the apache server is free, and is available for probably each Unix distro, and the sources are available if you don't find a server ready-made for your Unix.

Does he mean to run a webserver on a UNIX server (remember Linux is a UNIX clone so they are hand in hand) and remote control it on his Mac?
I have a FreeBSD server and I control it using SSH on my Windows and Mac machines. xboxrulz
Why not using the Apache server embedded in the Mac ?

Apache is automatically run on all Macs, just copy files to your "Sites" folder. xboxrulz
I think what he's saying is that he wants to run a web server on the terminal.
