Broadband Modem Sharing
Accessing Internet from 2 computers (11)
I like to share our broadband modem and access Internet from the second computer. The 2 computers
are not connected to each other. I am considering setting up a network of these 2 computers using a
wireless access point and 2 wireless network cards. I assume the access point and the braodband
modem will be attached to one of the computers and the other computer will be able to access
Internet through the access point. Is there any other way of sharing the modem eg. using adapters/
extensions, like sharing the telephone line? ....
Networking Computers Without Modem?
(16)
I don't know if that is the right title but here goes. The computer I'm on is connected to
the internet via dial-up and has a printer connected to it. My computer has no internet connection,
but has many graphics programs and things that I would like to transfer the the internet connected
computer. I had the computers networked when I had highspeed internet and a cable modem, but
I'm not sure how to network them now that their both not on the internet. So my question is,
how do I network these two computers? (I know it's probably very simple)....
Share Internet Using Router And Modem That Uses Usb?
(13)
Today I was trying to setup shared internet for someone and was having lots of problems with it.
They are using AOL DSL and had their ISP's modem. They have a Linksys router (forgot what
model...WRT something) and I tried almost everything I can think of to no avail. Here is the
problem. The modem connects to the computer using USB ONLY. It has an ethernet adapter in the back
of the modem but it will not work (needs the USB either way). After playing around more for over an
hour, I came to some "conclusion" that the other machines need the modem to be connected via ....
Cable Modem Keeps Rebooting
(13)
Everyday my cable modem keeps disconnecting me. I get disconnected at least 3 times a day. I tried
reformatting my computer to see if any viruses is causing it. After reformatting it worked but after
upgrading it to service pack 4, it happened again. Is it the computer that's causing this or the
cable modem. The cable modem is pretty new, it's only 4 months old. Can someone help me with
this?....
Dropping Off-line
Any way to test a Cable Modem or Router? (2)
I've been having this problem lately of dropping off-line (always on, cable access) I
use to have to cycle (unplug and replug) the Cable Modem and the Router (wired Router) in sequence
to get back on-line. So I replaced the Cable Modem and Router. Now I'm dropping offline less
often, and I can get back on by just cycling the Router. Q. Is there anyway to "test" a Cable Modem
and/or Router to see for sure where the "stoppage" is? ....
D-link Router 614i Crashes
(4)
I have 2 computers in my home network. Both of them have 100Mb D-Link NIC cards and everything is
100% checked and compatible. The thing is when you trying to transfer files or sometimes even when
you play a game, internet crashes and it takes about 5-10 seconds to renew. Can anyone tell what are
the possible reasons?....
I Think D-link Di-804hv Is The Best Router
(1)
On my LAN I have 2 PCs. I networked them so I can share files and printers. Also when my dad brings
home his work laptop he can plug it into the D-link, one of the few routers under $100 bucks with
VPN Capability and can access his work at DSL speeds instead of the dial up junk. By the way if you
dont know, VPN is called Virtual Private Networking. It is more secure and creates virtual tunnels
that let only you and the remote computer get in and makes sure no backdoor trojans are on ur pc
that could access the work PC. Setting it up is easy. Plug your DSL in the WAN. Th....
Voip Ta Adapter Differences
Request the D-Link!!! (0)
Hello All, I came home from vacation, to find that my VOIP phone didn't have any dial tone.
Did all the normal things, like powering off everything, then turning them back on just as I had
during my initial installation of my VOIP system. Still no dial tone. So... thinking how smart I
am, I decided to call my phone, and see how it did the "Safe Number" automatic forwarding. No go!!!
So... I wait thru the 22minutes of advertisments until I actually get a hold of someone LIVE to
talk with via their 800 number... and happily they were able to "Kick-Start" my TA (T....
