My 2 year old grandson had a field-day with my older Toshiba laptop today. I believe the shortcut key option is stuck "on". I cannot type any words or numbers at all. When I press "p" print options appear, when I press "o" all sorts of programs want to open, etc. I tried tryping in address bar but cannot get any words to appear in address bar. I tested it by opening Note Pad with mouse and attempted to type but letters and number would not appear. It seems like the Control Key always on or the computer is automatically in "short-cut key mode". If anyone know how to disable this, please help me. I am using a Toshiba Satelite and Windows XP operating system. There is not a virus visible b'caus I ran a check and all my anti-virus software is up to date. All my Toshiba updates have been done also. I haven't turned off computer yet b'cause I don't know what will happen if i try to power back up again. Please help, thanks in advance.

The shortcut for printing is "Ctrl-P". This makes me think that the stuck key is the "control" key, and not the shortcut key. Same thing with "ctrl-O", which is the shortcut for "open". Have a look at the "control" key, probably the keyboard had a nice shock on the bottom-left edge, you can try forcing the "control" key to go up, releasing this "control-click" feature.

on most keyboard you can pry off the keys and they are designed to come on and off try prying your key off and then cleaning underneath with a cotton swab and then once putting the key back on press it repeatedly a bunch of times.

Lcd Screen
dead or stuck pixel, help! (5) Hi. 2 months ago I bought my first LCD screen, went from a 17" CRT to a 20" LCD widescreen and I
was amazed by the beauty of the image/monitor. It arrived with no dead pixels, nor stuck pixels, so
everything was literally perfect, except for the brightness, which was little to bright for my
taste, but nothing that couldn't be fixed with the nvidia control panel. So yesterday I was
playing a PC game, and then I noticed some really small spots on the screen, so I googled for a
pixel checker/fixer software. I found this one that turns your whole screen to a color of y....
Hdd Stuck On Post
(9) I installed a 30 day trial version of Windows Vista. My drives were as follows:- 40 GB Primary
Active Partition 37 GB Logical Drive with a single partition With Vista I split the Primary
partition into two (Delete and re-create) 20 GB partitions. Both of them now became Primary
partitions. Vista was installed on Drive 1 (20 GB). After the installation, I installed Win XP on
the other Primary partition. I thought this would allow me to dual boot Win XP and Vista. But, Win
XP setup overwrote the Vista Bootloader. I changed the active partition to the one where Vista was....
Steampunk Keyboard Mod
Reworked by myself (4) I found this site a couple weeks ago: And decided to take one of my friend's ancient keyboards
and modify it in a similar fashion, but add some custom twists in the process to make it more
unique. The Steampunk site used a brass construction to make the base and whatnot for the keyboard,
but since I don't have access to that sort of material or tools, I'll be working up a mod
using wood pieces. I'm still gathering materials, and on the whole, the darned project is going
to cost nearly $100 to do, but hopefully it'll turn out alright. To start out,....
VGA Mode Not Supported Message On Monitor
(12) Hi, I keep getting this VGA Mode Not Supported message on the LCD monitor whenever it tries to go
into Windows. I have read up on this online and it seems to be a problem with the refresh rate. The
problem is that I can't boot into Safe Mode to change the refresh rate to a lower setting
because it either freezes or also shows that VGA Mode message again. This is a Compaq that I'm
fixing for someone and they just have the 5 recovery discs that came with it. I tried putting the
first one in and selected to do the format and recover option. It goes through the reco....
Toshiba Tecra S2
(2) hey y'all, my friend recently reinstalled her laptop with Windows XP SP2. However, when I
tried to help her install the driver, her laptop can't figure which is which. I tried to tell
her to install the driver provided by Toshiba for the LAN adapter on "Ethernet Controller", however
Windows keeps rejecting the .INF. If anyone has a solution, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, xboxrulz....
Raid From 6 Disks - What Mode Is Best?
(8) Hi, I have small question - wonder if someone would be able to give me some hint... friend of mine
have 6 SATA II Raid-ready drives (longer waranty and hot-plugable)... he cannot have more - all are
same vendor, size, and almost serial number as they came in box packed together... just to plug
in... It would be used mainly for securing his programming environment so lot's of small files
(also whole system built from source, and general file backups), there would be RaiserFS 4 on disk
with 4kb node size so small files would be happy. There wouldn't be too big fi....
My New Keyboard!
(9) Hey! My local RadioShack store is closing and stuff is 40-70% off so I took a look around. I
purchased this $80 wireless keyboard and mouse set for $47 and I think it is great. A friend of mine
also has this exact same keyboard. I'm using it right now with my laptop and I love it!
/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I can type almost
20 feet away from my computer, lol. Well, when I get my new computer, it is going to be used for
that. The mouse is really uncomfortable (to me) though so I'll probably end up just buyin....

(2) I've never heard about a keyboard that shuts the pc by pressing the CAPS LOCK key. Well the

automaticlly shutdown the PC. Well after some hours trying to solve the problem i realized that each
time he press the CAPS LOCK key the windows starts at once shutting down. I check for keyboard

Keyboard And Lemonade
A bad combination.. (10) If you have ever thought of spilling something over your keyboard in order to see what will happen,
don't - I'll tell you. I was enjoying a regular afternoon and drinking some sweet lemonade.
Accidentally I hit the glass and it spilled over my Genius SlimStar keyboard (a really great model).
I didn't wait at all - I cleaned it quickly, opened it, dryed it etc. I pluged it back in, and
it was working - though it was a bit sticky (because of the sugar). But that wasn't all. After
15 minutes something happened to the circuits inside the keyboard and all of....
