| | SuSE is going GNOME default soon because of "corporate" users. Yet, the good news is that even Linus backs up KDE.

I still perfer RedHat for its quality. After RedHat 9, that OS is not free anymore. Anyway, there's a replacement for RedHat : Fedora Core (OpenSource and Free), Fedora is from RedHat inc also. It provide the lastest technology and include almost eveything a open source developer need. I've been using RedHat from ver 7 and Fedora Core since ver 1. Foe SuSE, I think it's a good choice for beginner/newcommer. SuSE is faster on old machines. But since I had enough to buy new systems, I don't have to care much about that.

A matter of preference. I personally use RedHat, 'cause SuSe 10 with SP1 runs too slow. Even my gig of RAM is not enough to view in nautilus fast. Yes, nautilus in RedHat is very fast neither, but additionally RedHat's default theme looks pretty good, In my honest opinion even gnome looks more ergonomic and is less irritating than Gnome/KDE in SuSe. -napalmdenton

Suse 10.0: Can't Get On Network! Help Please!
(11) On my main computer, I got SuSE 10.0 installed as a dual boot with no problems except the network.
SuSE sees my integrated NIC card (it's on the motherboard) but I can't get online! I went
into terminal, did a SU - and logged in and then did an ifconfig... eth0 is there but no IPv4
address, just an IPv6 and then the loopback address. Could it be that I'm running the 32 bit
version of it and when I went to install, it was like "Cool computer, but.... this is 32 bit and
you're using a 64 bit processor!!!!"? Just wondering. I could probably download 10.1 6....

Suse Linux Enterprise Server 9
(5) I'm wondering if anyone has ever used SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 as a regular desktop Linux
distro? I use mine as a local test server, but I'm thinking of installing it on my laptop (it
has mobile features in it!) and dual booting with XP. Maybe not in the near future or anything. It
doesn't come with software like OpenOffice.org like some other versions have (Xandros for
example, and I think Fedora Core 4) and it is very limited except on server stuff. Well, I am new to
Linux so I wouldn't exactly know what 'limited' was on a Linux system. ....
Redhat 8.0 + Evolution + Ms Exchange Server
(8) I have been forced into quite a conor at work these days and here is my problem. The project that I
am working on requires Redhat 8.0 with as few updates as possible in order to support the baseline
of the reviewed software. I would like to check my email while in Linux via the built in Evolution.
I ran the setup for Evolution and there is no option for Microsoft Exchange server. I have done
some digging around the net and have found that you need at least version 1.4.6 for the option to be
present. My current version is 1.0.8-10. I have run up2date and it says tha....

have the DivX4Linux files but do not know how to install these (unlike configuring and 'make

Suse And Dual Monitors
it isn't working (1) I'm wondering if anyone can help me with my problem. I have Suse 9.2 on my computer and I
recently added a second monitor. For some reason I can't get it set up correctly. My video
card is a Radeon 9800. I think that might be some of my problem since Ati doesn't seem to have
good driver support for linux. Anyway, I have Ati's drivers installed, not the ones that came
with Suse. I ran the configuration utility that came with the drivers, and as far as I can tell I
entered all the right settings. However, the X server refuses to start when I have bot....
