I have a problem with my Optiarc DVD RW AD-7200S SCSI CdRom Device under vista. After reboot, it sees each CD or DVD a blank one, and asks me to format it. If I use Nero to burn a CD, then the drive works perfectly and is able to read every media, as if Nero correctly initialized the drive. However it stops working after reboot... It seems to be obviously a vista driver problem, because Linux or vistaPE liveCD's boot correctly, and have no problem with the CD. The PC is a Packar Bbell and has a Packard Bell BV MCP73 1.XX motherboard.

I will be building a new computer soon and want to know if the motherboard really decides if Vista
will work on my machine or not. I'm looking at a Intel 945GCLL Intel Socket 775 MicroATX
Motherboard and from what I found, it only will support Vista Basic Edition. I have read that
it's better to get Premium over the Basic Edition and I will probably do so in a few more months
when Vista is out for a while (probably with lots of patches released by then). Will Premium Edition
work if I install it? I don't see how the motherboard can be a really big issue here....

I've just bought a new computer that comes with a hp photosmart 2575 all in one printer. Today,
i tried to install it but I didn't follow the instructions at the beginning which was not to
plug the USB cable in till the setup asks you to do so. Windows XP (Media Center Edition) then
detects the USB device and installs and names in "Unknown Device". I tried updating the device in
Device Manager but that didn't work. I uninstalled the USB device from device manager and follow
the steps in the instructions but that didn't work. I downloaded the latest dr....
Recently, I've been encountering several problems with my computer. One of those is that when i
play a game, say MapleStory that uses up the whole screen, sometimes it would just hang for a second
or 2 and restart the computer. Each time this happens, i send the error report and (surprisingly)
Microsoft have found a solution which i do not understand. This is the link to the error report:

It's very irritating and i have a gut feeling that this has something to do with V....
Windows Vista will not support old DVD-ROM drives Old DVD-ROM is the dvd rom that do not handle
region coding in hardware. Those DVD-ROM allow playback regin/CSS encoded DVDs. D VD-ROM that
made after year 2000 would not have problem with that. Source:

Hey, I recently came into possession of an unused pc that the owner couldn't get running, they
told me that if I could get it working I could keep it (and even if I can't, I've still got
it =P ) so I've been going through the innards (I think the problem is the power supply,
testing parts tommorrow) and I've come across some scsi stuff. A card and a pair of hard drives.
I've never used scsi hdds before, what is the difference between scsi and ide and how exactly
does scsi work?....
