I started using filezilla, i love its clean interface...But now, im still using it.
SmartFTP does allow you to upload a whole folder. What you do is drag the folder onto the FTP window.
My favorite is SmartFTP, but that's only because it's the only one I've ever used.
Well, right now I'm using firezilla which is an opensource ftp program, I believe. It's fit for my needs with many features but still light.
I'm using Cute FTP but it's an 30 days version.
I don't wanna pay anything for it... Does anybody know some free FTP??? And as good as CuteFTP? THanks for your help!!! THanks for your help!!!  whenever you want the best, and you want it free, turn to open source. i mostly use command-line FTP through a bash script, or when im feeling lazy, i find konqueror is an excelent ftp client.
www.smartftp.com will give you a free FTP client and i aslo use www.net2ftp.com its an online FTP, its kinda weird but pretty cool but it has a 500KB upload limit on it.
For me the best client is WS_FTP is easy to use and It's free, you can get them a download.com

Few months ago I started using Filezille and I gotta say I love it. In addition to all it's greatness it is open source.

But now, im still using it. 
I've downloaded FileZilla on my desktop. It gets most of my work done. It's free and constantly updated. Also FireFTP is extension for Mozilla firefox, handy if you've lower number of files to be uploaded. For larger number of files better use dedicated program. Other than this two more options : CoreFTP and GoFTP.Recently i had chance to test SmartFTP on my friends computer. Nice little app i must say. It is also free.
To be honest, I think FireFTP is good, well, it's the best for me, in my opinion. To others opinions may be different.

i don't remember paying for it... maybe i did something illegal with it or something...i don't really know but i used it.... oooh....30 day trial??i think that was it haha i didn't have any more time to make adjustments to my site so i stopped using it probably... thanks for sharing your thoughts about filezilla... when i get my 13$ worth of myearnings(need it for domain),i will start using it...
