File Types - What File Type are allowed

jbitkill
Hi, can I know what file types are allowed because the FAQ is down.

I need the .htc .sh for ADR RPG Mod for phpBB.

PS: If all are allowed, just say all file types allowed, don't stress yourself by typing every file type!

Depends from where and what for.
At astahost, all filetypes are allowed. On some other servers, some filetypes are forbidden (like .htaccess or .htdocs).
However, remember that usually sql is reserved for sql files, so a forum environment could refuse names like .sql
Also remember that some conventions give special treatment for .html, .avi, .php or .zip extnsions.

Thanks, now I found a host that has got EVERYTHING I need! Just have to upgrade to the 30pts host package, then i'm installing ModX, ADR RPG Mod and the Simple Points System. Before I forget, these are for phpBB 3.x.

Nice. I even didn't know that mods for phpbb3 were already available.

phpbb 3 is currently in its 7th releace candidate. they say that rc7 is their last one but theyve been saying that for the last 3 release candidates, lol

i actually hope they release the final one soon, i want to see wot the finished package would be like and then try making a theme for it.

oh and jbitkill, i just remembered one thing we cant have, asp files since its on a linux server and asp is a windows thing, lol just thought id point it out

So ASP is a no, no, or it just won't be technically supported in it's intended fashion?

And I didn't even know phpBB 3 was out and about, let alone so far, but I did stop using forum software like that a while back and decided to start building my own.

I might have to check it out and see how the project is doing.

It's an allowed file type, but it won't eval. You can turn asp tags on, and make asp pages go to php engine.

There isn't anything you can't upload (file type wise, child porn isn't allowed in any form), but many things like shell programs and m$ stuff can't be used.

Yeah so basically the structure intended for the file type associated will not be interpreted, but I can be used "technically", of course it wouldn't be much help, but nice to know that it is not restricted.

    Issue with SWF Files (2)
I didn't see anything in the FAQ or with the search about filesizes, so I'll ask about it
here: I have a radio.blog (for those of you who don't know what that is, it's a flash
player that converts MP3 files into SWF's for faster streaming) and it's been acting up
lately. I asked for help on the RB support forums, and someone suggested that it could be my
host's filesize limit or non-permittance of certain filetypes. So my question is this - How big
is too big for Astahost, and is there a problem with hosting SWF files? I'd say that most ....

need help on getting music file to work (11)
I was wondering if anyone can please help me with uploading a music file. I got my first hosting
package and logged in without a problem. So when i'm in my cpanel account I went under the
section "Site management tools" then to "file manager" Then on the file manager I uploaded a music
file. so now, i clicked on properties and then found the URL and when i tried playing the music
file on another site, i cant hear any music?? is their some other step i need to do? or did i do
    something wrong??....
  4. Is There A Max File Size Limit When Uploading?
    (4)
I just tried uploading a 23 MB .wmp file. It started to upload but then after about 6 minutes a box
popped up in the corner. It said "Page Cannot Be Displayed" so I tryed it again assuming there was
an error, but I got the same thing. So I'm wondering if there is a file size limit or if there
are file types that are restricted. I couldn't find this information anywhere else so I'd
    appreciate someone letting me know.....

hi, i'm not sure where to post this, but the cPanel theme is missing a link to the help file.
The help file is located at http://stickboarder.info:2082/docs/cpanel/index.html or
http://astahost.com:2082/docs/cpanel/index.html For everyone that doesn't understand cPanel,
the help file is REALLY handy....
